As a young Quartermaster officer serving in the Army overseas, Carol Ann McCurdy quickly realized the value of strong logistical support to the success of every mission. After leaving the military, she employed many of those organizational and planning skills in her 27-year career with Anne Arundel County Public Schools and working with nonprofit organizations in her community.

As the Director of Partnerships, Development, and Marketing for one of the 50 largest school systems in the U.S., Carol Ann established a new team of education and development professionals in 2014 to provide leadership in the areas of business partnerships, volunteer management, community outreach, grant writing, event planning, and marketing. She also served as the Executive Director for the 21^st Century Education Foundation, the 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides resources and funding for schools and programs.

In 2021, Carol Ann founded The Hummingbird Group to provide support and services for businesses, organizations, and school systems that may not have the time, staffing, or resources needed to:

Plan events, meetings, conferences, or fundraisers;

Complete and submit grant applications or government proposals;

Prepare professional development and training sessions;

Write, edit, and/or proofread newsletters, promotional materials, and other large documents;

Coordinate and collaborate with a variety of individuals and organizations in support of special projects.

The Hummingbird Group has cultivated relationships with experts throughout the region to provide qualified, experienced, and professional support to every project.
